I just wanted to ask Airbnb community if they have ever experienced this and if I should be concerned. My husband was travelling within our state and he wanted to find an Airbnb to stay. Quite strangely, he found a home by this user called 'justine' that included the images of my home. This user copied my profile verbatim and used some of my pictures (didn't forget to add a couple of their own!). My question is can they even do that? Should I even be worried?
@Sue58 Absolutely you should be concerned. What a coincidence! You should report the listing to Airbnb as soon as possible. Provide them with the listing number. It should look like this: www.airbnb.com/rooms/xxxxxxxxxx
In the meantime, can you post the same listing number here? I'd like to take a look.
Do you know all the ways you can contact Airbnb? If not, here's a helpful link. I use twitter @airbnbhelp since I get the fastest response that way.
Thank you for the feedback. This is the link I could get.
https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/12008872?checkin=04%2F15%2F2016&checkout=04%2F16%2F2016&s=7CFEIuge
They called it Justine's Bed and Breakfast
Have a great day!
@Sue58 I'm really surprised that this phony listing is still live on Airbnb! Did you report it to Airbnb? The easiest way is flag it (under the Request to Book) area and in the Other box explain that a scammer has copied your pictures.
Also, I would encourage you to check your security notifications to be sure that your account hasn't been compromised. Check all of your notifications to be sure it's your info and, most importantly, check the box requesting notification of any login from a device / phone that is not associated with yours. If your login info has been phished, scammers will usually change the notifications so you are not alerted.
After you have done this, change your password.
In addition to flagging this account, you should also contact Airbnb to report it. The best way is through twitter @airbnbhelp, but there are other ways:
Do this asap so people don't get scammed!
