No more parties!

No more parties!

In the past I've overlooked my rule of NO PARTIES and allowed small birthday parties for kids maybe 5 times in almost 3 years. It's always been a huge hassle but the pay is decent. I still always regret it.

2 days ago I had a 13 yro's birthday party after his mom khalilah begged me relentlessly. Mom was nice enough and she even had a 25 yro male chaperone but still the kids were unruly, disrespectful, LOUD, literally stayed up all night fighting, wrestling and screaming. I had to go out at 4am and ask them to calm down.

They broke a bunch of things. I've hosted over 1000 people and no one has ever really broken anything. These 6 kids broke all the stuff in the pics in less than 12 hours. I was really surprised at the carelessness of these people.  I'm probably going to more find things that they've broken as I go forward.

I've sent her a request for $149 to take care of it all. I'm sure she won't pay and then I'll have to fight airbnb for it. Grrrr!

This is the crap hosts sometimes have to put up with when we get bad guests. Airbnb could care less about our properties and the damages done by THIER guests.

My god, @Donald28, why and how do you deal with these children?!

Why? Because familes are drawn here due to the arcade and pool. They're a large % of my guests.

How? That I am not sure! LOL. It's not fun. Especially, when airbnb makes me jump through a million hoops to get reimbursed for their guests damage.

Aw @Donald28, sorry to hear about the damage made. It's good to hear you have the money reinbursed, nice and quickly – but, I do hope you have enough to mend it all.

I can see why families are drawn to your listing, it's like a treasure trove of fun. 🙂 Do you think there is anything you can put in place to protect it a little bit? I imagine that is quite hard though.

Best of luck getting it all sorted.

@Donald28

😉 You could always hire a few teachers to act as "chaperones/bouncers".... we're always looking for a good side gig to pay off loans and we've already mastered the side eye and aren't afraid to say no.
