Please Help- advanced booking wrong price, cancellation confusion

New to Airbnb I neglected to put in my prices for the 2018-2019 season.  I just had someone book Christmas week and New Years for less than half what our holiday rate is. I read all the ramnifications of canceling so instead I sent her a request for the balance . . .  I have a couple of questions:

 

#1 How could I have set my calendar to take reservationsfor only so many months out 

#2 I sent this lady a request for the balance and I got a message that it was not approved? I dont know where that message came from... It does not say airbnb at the beginning of the text

#3  She sent me a message saying that she received the cancellation notice canceled her reservation so I had to send her the deposit but I never canceled it.  The weird thing is I cannot find a copy of the message where I requested the balance nor where there was a cancellation request

#4  She is still booked in my calendar.  I told her I didnt cancel it and asked her to do it but I am not hearing from her  

 

I almost feel I'm being scammed some how... Any help at all would be greatly appreciated!

You must remember, @Jeannie30, that the host is responsible for prices...

#1 depends on your availability settings - booking window -> check what you set over there;

#2 she clicked the button, you got the message - the system sent it;

#3 again requested balance was through the system, not really any copy of that message visible for you, be careful - she might be cheating with that deposit (just my sense) since you didn't cancel the reservation (do not do it - penalties);

#4 nobody cancelled, again - be careful.

@Jeannie30 Hi Jeannie, one other thing I would recommend is that instead of setting your base price as the lowest price you want to rent at, set it at your highest. That way if dates become available and you hadn't remembered to set your rates then the higher rate will be advertised. Gillian
