I had a terrible guest who made a lot of noise and my neighbor called the police. I am very mad about this guest because he was very unrespectful. I was told that if I get another complaint, I might get a fine of 1200 euros and also won't be able to rent my apartment anymore. This is true?
I am outrage since this was my guest and I only want good guests at my apartment that respect the rules.
Oh, sorry to hear about your expoerience!
It would be a good idea to bring a gift basket to your neighbor and apologize for the disturbance your guest did. Hopefully they are reasonable people and do not take it to heart -and try to call the police for every little thing later on.
Buena suerte!
How frustrating, I would see what you can do to placate your neighbors.
Add quiet time and respect for neighbors to your rules. If you want to get tough you can even add that the guest will be charged 1200 Euro if there is a noise complaint.
Also, add the quiet and respect rule to your description, because on the Airbnb page that the guest sees the rules are separated by reviews, they appear way down at the end of a long scrolling page and few guests scroll down that far.
Make sure you give this piece of scum the review he deserves and a thump down.
Airbnb is unlikely to do anything, it’s turned into the platform of choice for scumbags.
Fortunately cases like yours a few and far between but having said that, why O why do Airbnb find itself so reluctant to blackball this scum.
yes airbnb advice me to put a longer rule in my desciption. I put no parties and they had one so it doesn't change anything.
I think that I found the solution from talking to a friend today also doing airbnb..
In Madrid, you have to fill a police paper with ID and personal information of the guest... It is the new city regulation. We have to do it like hotels. So I will add if the police come. you will have to pay the fine.
also told me, charge more and do not use airbnb pricing... people will more money tend to be older people and not young people who sometimes don't care about the rules... i had lovely edlerly guest who took very good care of my place. I was so happy that I even had a drink with them and show them my neighboorhood for half an hour so they know where all things are... good airbnb experience. However, this guy Mauricio... https://www.airbnb.com/users/show/122556713 was very bad... what I do not understand is he had 3 good reviews, this is the reason I accepted him at a lower cost...
This guest has two stays in Madrid in the same month, could it be that he has been kicked out and relocated to your place ? It seems strange to have two separate bookings in the same city. Maybe the previous host were so happy getting rid of this poor guest, she gave him a nice review so that someone else would have to deal with this problem guest ? Not fair I know and kudos to you for giving an honest review as to warn other hosts.
@Marit-Anne0 I've had quite a few guests that have a few diiferent bookings in the same month. Downtown, Uptown, Brooklyn - they say they want to experience living in different neighborhoods. Or as @Sarah977 mentioned they could be hedging their bets.
I will check it out. Thanks
@Sandy29 Yes, it's disturbing that he had good reviews. It pays to cross reference reviews- 2 of the good reviews are from hosts with multiple listings- one host has 10 listings, the other has 4. Hosts with multiple listings sometimes never even meet the guests and as long as the place wasn't trashed or the neighbor's lodged noise complaints, those hosts often tend to give generic good reviews.
@Marit-Anne0 It's not necessarily odd for a guest to book multiple places in the same city. Maybe one place only had a 3 days available on the calendar, another 2 days, another 5 days, etc. I recently had a guest who had booked 4 different places for her 2 week holiday. She said she did that in case she wasn't that happy with a listing, she wouldn't be stuck there for her whole trip.
