***UPDATE: I CAN'T DELETE THIS POST, BUT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED!
I've been having issues with not receiving app notifications and I'm hoping they are resolved but I can't test it myself! ABB support helped with trouble shooting, but won't help test.
Can someone please send me a quick inquiry? Click my profile for my listing or for quick reference: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/24543923?
Oh I wouldn't be without it Emiel! I used to hate those times when I was away from my computer and essentially cut off from Airbnb.
In general the phone app works very reliably and well.....I am in a situation where I am now on two platforms. I have the apps of both platforms dowloaded to my phone and I can quickly manage bookings from one platform to the other no matter where I may be......even travelling in the country as we were last month I was able to accept and respond to a pre-approval enquiry, send a message to a new IB and block the relevant days on the other sites booking calendar all in the space of 5 minutes while we were on the road travelling.
The freedom that mobile app gives you Emiel far offsets that very infrequent issue that might come along!
Cheers......Rob
Glad you were able to fix the problem. The issue I've been having is that Airbnb notifications are NEVER prompt. I get notifications from the app on mg phone..... but always a couple hours after the guest sends a message or inquiry.
Which is why I ask guests to use IM to contact me if they need a quick reply, and explain I will copy+paste whatever necessary onto the Airbnb messenger for evidence purposes.
Since Henry just uses my account to manage things related to our listing and he's usually in front of the monitor, he actually calls me to let me know when we get an Airbnb alert. He's usually faster than the app notification.
OMG that is crazy! I depend on the notifications so much. Not just for responding promptly to booking requests, but for other things too. I once had a guest lock themselves out while I was out of town and without that notification, they would have been sleeping in their car that night!
Hi there Jess, I would suspect that this is an issue with your phone carrier rather than Airbnb.....I know, I know, you are going to tell me that it only happens with Airbnb! But the system does not run that way.
The alert is triggered and sent simultaneously to your email and your registered mobile device. It doesn't differentiate between users....the procedure is the same for every user.
I find I get an sms alert about 30 seconds before I get an email to my PC. I know that because my phone is on my desk next to my PC when messages come trough, and I think you will find most of us here are in the same situation.
I think I would be taking this delay up with your phone carrier and if that checks out, maybe register a different phone account in your account settings on your Airbnb profile.
A two hour delay is totally unacceptable and there would be wholesale uproar here if a delay like that was general!
Cheers.......Rob
I don't have issues with prompt notification from any other app or with my sms messages.
When Henry tells me we got a message I use my laptop to check and respond. If I know that I have a message then I will "renew" the message page on the abb app about 10 times repeatedly which usually works. But left alone it will be a couple hrs before I get a ping.
Like I said to Ann just now, I wish I had a bit more knowledge with this tech stuff but it does sound a bit like a cache problem. Your phone gets 'lazy' and drags information from your cache rather than from the internet.
But that doesn't explain why the alerts are so slow in coming coing to your phone when they have quite clearly been generated and are being received via Ethernet/Wifi.
Sorry Jess, hopefully somebody here with a bit more knowledge will help you out here....but I don't think it's a problem on Airbnb's end!
Cheers......Rob
@Robin4 @Susan151 @Suzanne302 It's happening to a lot of people - there have been half a dozen posts in "Help" in the last week. I'm glad I dropped by just when mine disappeared! I got two bookings between 9 and 10 pm EST and was notified by the red app badge, but not by a text sound. Luckily I had my phone right there or I would have missed them.
Will try the fixes suggested tonight - thanks again!
Closing the thread on request of the original poster.
