Quick Favor...Can someone send me an inquiry?

***UPDATE: I CAN'T DELETE THIS POST, BUT THE ISSUE HAS BEEN RESOLVED!

I've been having issues with not receiving app notifications and I'm hoping they are resolved but I can't test it myself! ABB support helped with trouble shooting, but won't help test.

Can someone please send me a quick inquiry? Click my profile for my listing or for quick reference: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/24543923?

@Suzanne302 . I haven't gotten the AirBNB notification sound in about a week now. I don't know if the problem is with the new iPhone software or AirBNB. So, I have changed my text message notification to a different tone for the AirBNB notification phone number that sends me text messages.

That said, will send you an inquiry. [Maybe you can do the same for me?] Done @5:44.

@Suzanne302:

Sent one. 5:42 PM EDT.

They are working again! I had to uninstall the app, turn off my phone, then reinstall again. It took two tries. The first time I did it, even the OPTION to receive notifications was missing! So I went through the steps again and now it is back.

Try that and see if it works. Let me know and I'll send you an inquiry if need be!

This does happen from time to time but when you suspect you are not receiving notifications, it is easy to fix! Log on via the app and go to 'Profile' , scroll down to 'Settings' and the first item will be 'Notifications'! uncheck your 'Push Notifications' and 'Text Messages' and leave for 10 minutes, then re-check them to the tick position!

You should start getting your alerts again.

It is however a good idea to every now and then re-install the app. This makes the phone search for updates rather than draw information from the cache.

I do at times clear my cache as well. Apps run a bit slower for a while until a new cache is generated but it does work more reliably!

@Robin4

Good to know. I depend on those notifications because I like to respond to messages and bookings asap!

@Robin4 Literally almost wept at how easy you made this for us.  🙂

I had just stopped getting texts, too.

I'll follow your steps!

@Ann72

Let us know how you get on after resetting your notifications Ann.

I say that because, if a considerable number of users are experiencing the same issue collectively then it could be something for Airbnb to look into.

I wish I had a bit more tech knowledge like @Susan151 and @Ben

Loosing alert notifications is not something that has happened to me recently but when I first started hosting it used to happen on a regular basis every few months and experienced users here on the CC would tell us to simply reset our notifications. There was even strong talk at the time that Airbnb were going to do away with sms alerts altogther and just send emails. That didn't eventuate and now almost all of us depend on cellular alerts. But the trick of resetting notifications would always do the trick!

Let us know the outcome Ann.

Cheers.....Rob

So, I followed @Suzanne302 's instructions. I deleted the AirBNB app, rebooted the iPhone, and then reinstalled. Ack! In the OS settings, I had no option to even set my Notification settings. So I rebooted, deleted AirBNB, rebooted, and same– no OS option for notifications.

However, it turns out that you first have to set the in-AirBNB-settings first. Tell it that you allow AirBNB to push notifications, and then you can set the OS settings.

I did do what @Robin4 recommended, but this time, unlike previous times, it simply didn't work. This is not the first app that broke with the upgrade to OS12.

@Susan151

I know it sounds a silly question but did you make sure the app fully downloaded Susan.

A few users have reported that the app appeared to download but 'froze' at some point in the download with bits of information missing.

That did happen to me once so I deleted the app, cleared my cache, re-installed the app and just let the phone sit for best part of half and hour before I accessed the app and it all worked fine.

You may be right it could be an os12 issue, but if it were, it would be much more general I think. It seems more likely that it is a broken download!

Cheers.....Rob

@Robin4  Yes. I do know that the AirBNB app fully downloaded. Since I do all this techie stuff for a living, I am rather thorough when I am troubleshooting. But, not a bad idea!

Of course, it might not be fully an OS12 issue. It could be a conflict with another app; it could be  OS12; it could be screwy programming. Who knows?

@Susan151

Yes, I left out that step, sorry! So crazy though, that we have to go through that just to get them working again.

Ironically, I don't have any other notifications turned on for my phone because I don't want to be a "slave" to the notifications and constantly checking my phone when I get a ding. But ABB is my business, so I depend on THOSE notifications!

in-AirBNB-settings first

Where? On the app or web?

@Michelle1214 In the AirBNB app. You can find this on your profile page. Scroll down to Settings. Set. Then, you can go to the OS settings to make any needed changes there.

I am really happy not owing a mobile phone, not having to deal with apps and not experience any of the problems mentioned here !
