Refusing specific nationalities but we're not racist

We love Instant Book, and we love hosting people from different walks of life, however, from our hosting experience and my wife's past personal experience, there is a nationality that we prefer not to accept as guests due to their personal habits. It is not important which nationality this is, we're not racist and I won't be drawn into this further.

I believe that this is not possible after speaking with Airbnb support, however, I want to know if anyone else would benefit from a new feature to be able to list up to 3 nationalities that can't instantly book but of course can request a booking with a message.  Please don't mention nationalities as this is not about racism, just a useful new feature to be more selective.

Without escalating the discussion which you seem to want to avoid, purely in a legal standpoint this would be illegal in many jurisdictions  . Including Australia. And I guarantee AirBnb would not want to add this functionality

Hello,

There has been some concern over this, I am sure the post above wasn't meant to be discriminatory, but for further reference please keep in mind the following:

Airbnb’s mission is to build a community of belonging. This week, Airbnb launched our new Standards and Expectations. We encourage all Hosts to take a look at these as they are an expression of our community’s shared values, and were created based on what hosts and guests have told us they view as acceptable conduct and behavior when using Airbnb.

A foundational value of these guidelines that relates to your particular question is the principle of Fairness. Given the diverse world around us, Fairness is what holds us together, what makes it possible for us to trust one another, to integrate seamlessly within communities, and to feel as if can we can truly belong anywhere.

While we recognize that places may have varying laws about treating people differently because of their race, nation of origin or other characteristics, Airbnb expressly discourages this behavior as counter to building our community of trust and belonging.

We know that our mission is ambitious, and understand the global challenges we may face in working towards it, but remain committed to making Airbnb one of the most open, trusted, diverse, transparent and accepting communities in the world. As a Host, we encourage you to continue to explore ways to interact with people from all backgrounds to find the common threads that bring us together.
