Anyone seen this one before? I sent a pre-approval 2 days ago and it is still not expiring? Technically I can change it to decline and get it out of my inbox but I'm not sure if the "magical algorithm" takes that into consideration 😞
Hi M, that's a strange one! You didn't by any chance send a special offer or something to over-ride the pre-approval?
Cheers....Rob
Hello Hello @Robin4 :-)))
Nope, usual thing: answered few questions and sent pre-approval, nothing out of the ordinary. I figured it it's a bug someone else must have seen it already.
I could just removed it and be done with it but I'm not sure if it affects the search result. You know how that works, who knows what goes into it 😞
@Monika64 Hi,
When I recently and longer than 24h but less than 2 days went to adapt something for an inquiry, I had the feeling that it was still active, though didn't follow through to inspect since it was moot for me at that point.
I did, however, make a note to self to take it into consideration and check in case it were to be an issue in another inquiry.
In the past apparently, it didn't give the algorithms indigestion if a pre-approval was declined later on. The general rumor goes that pre-approving does the magic and whatever comes then doesn't count... Kind of like massaging single free nights (if you don't allow less then 2 min) by accepting the ridiculously low pricing solution, because you know that night isn't going to be booked anyway.
Regarding algorithms - they could be little black men from outer space for what is really known about them 😛
Yeah @Andrea9 is right.....as she always is, 'dag nabbit!'
It's the granting of the pre-approval that is important to the Stats, once you have granted it that's the end of your obligation! You can withdraw the pre-approval at any time without any penalty although you will be prompted to leave a response as to why you chose to withdraw the pr-approval!
Andrea that's and interesting comment....you felt the pre-approval was still active after 24 hours! In general this is what will happen after 24 hours.......
You still have contact and you can, as it says, send a special offer, another pre-approval, or tell her to jump off a bridge, or dip her eye in fig jam!!!
I would be interested to hear in what regard you thought the pre-approval was still active!!
Cheers.....Rob
I just had a pre-approval expire @Robin4. My guest asked me to send a new one since they wanted to stay. But I had no option of sending a new one and had to ask my guest to make a new request. They did, and I noticed that the communication continued on the same thread as the expired pre-approval. It puzzled my head a bit since I would think that a new request would make a new conversation. But well... The guests are here and seem to be very nice 🙂
Mariann 🙂
@Mariann4 and all: i just read it recently somewhere here that in case of an expired pre-approval, the guest has to send a new request - or the host can send a special offer, but not a new pre-approval, just as you found out. with all the constant changes every 5 minutes, the non expiring preapproval could be different on different countries' platform, or a bug, as you all suspect.
@Mariann4 Yeah sorry I should have worded that better! Once a pre-approval lapses you as the host can send to the guest a special offer and you can 'grant' another pre-approval but.......the guest has to apply for another pre-approval! There is nowhere where you can just hit a tab that says, 'send a pre-approval'. You still have message contact with the enquirer and you simply ask them to send another enquiry which you will again pre-approve depending on the circumstances of the enquiry!
I hope @Bruce does not mind me dragging him into this thread but he does have a point...."Why would you want to extend a pre-approval, can't you get enough questions answered in 24 hours?", but, it is not as 'cut and dried' as that. I have had guests who just wanted to stay but had to arrange time off from work, had to get the elderly mother placed into care for a few day, had to arrange transport arrangements......all sorts of things that cannot be realistically performed within that 24 hour timeframe. The fact that they want a pre-approval extension does not mean they will be a difficult guest, you just have to assess them on the nature of the enquiry. And as you say Mariann, the guest is there and is nice.....good on you!
Cheers.....Rob
Hello everyone.
Few days ago i preapprove a lady , but she didnt accept it.
And now at time i wrote this , there still stand to waiting preapprove to accept / decline.
Does anyone know what will happend if i decline preaprove . I think that it is a system bug.
@Monika64 I ask Airbnb on facebook page about preaproval prosblem , and here is what they told to me.
Hi Duje, Thanks so much for reaching out to us. Airbnb is constantly changing our site's features to improve the host and guest experience. One of the features we are testing out is an extension of Pre-Approvals in which they will last 7 days. Of course you are able to remove this Pre-Approval at any time without it impacting your host stats. We hope this helps!
I hope that i help you, and everyone else with same issues
Cheer's
thanks, @Duje0 , very helpful! so amazing that we constantly have to figure out what they are changing every 5 minutes....
Thank you so much for sharing this information with us!
Unfortunately this is the only way we get to find out about things which have a large impact on our hosting.
Why on gods earth this mob cannot have a daily bulletin board which we can go to, like 'Computer Hope' to find out alterations that have either come into force or are being tested over the past 24 hours is completely beyond me.
All they need to do is, at a certain time each day mass CC each host an ABB bulletin board logo with a '?', question mark....that's all, we could then log in and go there and see what is new that affects us.
With all the talk from the top about sharing the Kool-Aid, I think support for hosts is actually getting worse, not better.
Thanks again Duje for that very relevant piece of advice, people like you keep many of us from making serious mistakes...contributors, 'Thumbs up'.....Airbnb, 'Thumbs down'!!!
Cheers.....Rob
hehe, @Robin4 , now that daily bulletin would be brilliant!! but not happening ever, mate, as we both know how chaotic these changes are, the creators probably don't even remember them long enough to put into a bulletin 12 hours later, let alone in a streamlined or organized fashion....
this specific one about the pre-approval doesn't even bother me, as it has practically no consequences anyways.
But the general idea of never ending changes sure does: as we try to correctly answer other peoples' questions here, it sure is a nuisance to have to double check first to see if what we believe to be accurate is actually still in place the way we remember it....
