I received notification of payment for a guest who has arrived, and is currenlty staying. However, I have been charged a cancellation fee, without prior warning or any reason. Why? and how do I get the rest of my money?
You will not get the rest of your money - there are penalties for cancelling a confirmed reservation and it has been deducted from your pay-out.

Marit - slightly confused by your post. Where did the host say they cancelled the booking?
They say the guest is currently staying with them.
Rochelle in answer to the original question I would contact BnB straight away and explain the situation and make sure they return the money and don't penalise you on the site.
Thank you for your advise - how do I contact AirB?
If they have charged me a cancellation fee for a booking which had to be cancelled last week, as AirBnB did not notify us of the confirmation of the booking in the first place, as they usually do, then I want to take this further.
airbnb software does not do fair - penalties are calculated automatically when you cancel on a confirmed booking. If you think there has been a technical issue prior, you need to contact customer support.
Dear Marit,
Thank you for your reply. What is their email address? I'm in South Africa....
Do a search on the forum or use the help section or find an itinerary for a confirmed booking.
Thank you - but cant find an email, only computer prompted 'solutions'
Did you use the search function on the forum at all ? Or check an itinerary ?

@Rochelle1 From your profile it looks like you cancelled a reservation in April 2016. It is likely the cancellation penalty fee was deducted from your payout for your current guest.
That seems hardly fair. Without notification?? There was one booking which we had no choise but to cancel, as we did not rceive notification of the booking in the first place. It just happend by chance that the guest contacted us....
How do I object to this?
