Trading accommodations: is it allowed? I'm a host in San Francisco area

I am a host of a couple properties.  One is about ten minutes from San Francisco CA. The other is in the wine country in northern California.  I've often wondered if there is a way to trade accommodations with other hosts, within the AirBnB community.

For example, I would like to stay in the Los Angeles area, and would be happy to allow use of my accommodations in exchange, in some equitable manner, for a place in LA (or wherever).

I understand that AirBnB is a business and some fee for using their network makes sense, but is there a mechanism for this with AirBnB?  Please advise

At this time of the year things are slow, and I have vacancy.  It makes sense to me utilize this vacancy somehow, like in this way I am suggesting.
