Unapproved guests of guest?!

Hi Airbnbers,

Some advice please! I have two (separate) guests in two rooms of my apartment at present - I'm not staying there during their visit. One of the guests asked me up front if she could have people to stay, I assumed she meant friends visiting and said if infrequent and okay with the other guest then it's fine. I am visiting the apartment tomorrow to fix something and found out from texting her that her parents have been staying there this week during a visit to London.

I discounted the booking because she had a limited budget, and now feel taken advantage of. I did not approve for her to have guests staying there without her present, nor to give her keys to someone else. I'm not sure if the other guest was asked, but I also feel it is unfair on him to have to share with people I didn't notify him of.

Am I over reacting?! Has anyone else had this happen, and how did you deal with it? She is staying there for another month so I don't want things to be difficult, but also don't want it to happen again.

Thanks in advance for any advice!

No, you are not overreacting and you will have to be alert to scammers all the time as not to be taken advantage of.  If you are offering a fair price, do not give discounts or fall for sob stories.

Hi @Penny20,

You can also ask the guest to pay for the additional unregistered guests by altering the itinenary and sending a change request.
