When does the "First Message" go out?

When does the "First Message" go out?

Hello,

 

I wanted to know when does the First Message (that is automatically sent) goes out? Is it after an instant booking or after any confirmed booking or after the first message received from anyone contacting the host?

 

I remember reading somewhere earlier that it's sent after an instant booking, but I can't find that information anymore. I did check the message threads for some of my past instant bookings and I cannot see the "First message" that I had set, appearing anywhere. Does it even get sent at all?

 

Another unrelated question that I had is, how long after an inquiry is it fine to ping the guest for an update? I had a potential guest ask me about details about my place and the tourist attractions. We chatted for an hour wherein I almost planned her entire 2 days sightseeing tour. She hasn't confirmed the booking or said anything since then. What would be the right message to send her asking for an update about her decision? And what's the right time to send it?
