Xmas Cancellation

Due to tier 4 regulations just introduced in UK my Xmas booking guests say they must cancel due to extenuating circumstances, my policy is strict. They don’t wish to move their booking but are guilting me to agree a full refund, yet at this late date I may not get another booking & have left heating on and prepared the 5 bed property plus real Xmas tree, decorations & gifts for their arrival in a few days. What should I do?

If the guest made the booking after March 2020, they must have known that Covid19 was still around & as such I would not be offering any refund but will be happy to give them a date change out of goodwill.

Pls remember that you set up shop to make money & there are costs you also have to make covid or no covid.

You are correct @Gabriel607  both hosts and guests knew they were taking a risk by offering accommodation and booking it knowing legislation could be brought in which would mean leisure travel was no longer possible.

when using Airbnb regardless of what you say as a host Airbnb will refund uk guests who cannot travel because of our legislation  under their Corona EC policy.  They will also offer penalty free cancellation to hosts in higher tiers who can’t host leisure guests.

@Kerry26 @Helen3 @Mike-And-Jane0 @Helen350 @Gabriel607  and others on this thread.....Kerry, so sorry you are having such a struggle, challenge and battle as so many thousands of other hosts/people  right this minute over the world - it's perhaps no comfort but you are not alone.

I have no answers but, this thread has exhausted me with the back and forth - right/wrong - bottom line its all a difficult time/ desperate times for many and will absolutely change many lives, worlds, businesses, relationships .....and end many of those.

May we all somehow find a sense of peace midst the chaos and be able to glance forward to better days ahead. Only one thing is certain.....CHANGE.

Many Blessings All, stay safe, stay well & Happy New Year

@Clara116  Yes I agree it is an endlessly difficult thread.. and the circumstances so complex for so many.
Best wishes to all for the New Year!

Changes & more changes will mean we must be positive, alert but flexible, just not defeated I hope. 🙏
