charging extra for extra guests

I have people coming tonight.  They are bringing an extra person.  In my profile I state that is OK, but $10 extra per person per night.   How does the payment work?  Does  the system charge my guests or do I collect it from them?

@Jeanne231 hello, we NEVER collect or do money deals with the guests! Plus you don't want to do any of that stuff - let it all be done through Airbnb . You need to send a request to change the reservation - you do this on the Itenerary for this guest - it will say Change/Cancel Reservation  - you put change and change the amount of people and send it. As long as your setting is for $10 Airbnb then contacts the guests for approval and when they OK it you will get notice that they changed amount of guests and are charging. Check the amount and make sure it is correct. If the guests don't do this immediately it is likely they will never do it............do this immediately best before they arrive. Don't let them slide if they agreed on the message with you. Happy Hosting, Clara

Sorry I never replied--I'm still getting used to navigating the Airbnb site.   Being a technophobe, it is intimidating.

I appreciate your response.   Very convoluted system for me, but I'll give it a shot the next time.

@Jeanne231 I looked at your listing and it looks like 3 guests is max. and its all the same price for 3. So if you mean more than 3 you must list that and have the settings - after 3 guests $10 each night

Hi Jeanne I think you are just going to have to wear this one. I think from what you are saying although you accept 3 guests anything after 2 is an extra $10 per night.....is that what you are saying?

If this is correct it is no good just saying this in your listing description you have to put the 'machinery' in place to make this work.

If you go to your listing editing page and scroll across to 'Pricing'

Set your base price and then scroll down to 'Extra Charges'

You will now be faced with this screen.......

This is where you will set the extra cost for each guest after 2. When you have done this click Save and then, when two people book they will be charged your base rate but when three people book the extra charge will automatically be displayed to the guest.

I just realized I never responded to you (I'm still trying to navigate the Airbnb site--pretty daunting for a technophobe such as myself.)   I appreciate your response.  I'll get this set up, and hopefully the next time I have extra people it will fall into place.

@Jeanne231, I have mine added in as @Robin4 has shown and charge $10 per person per night for any guests over two. So far, this has worked great for me.
