host asking for cleaning fees

I booked ap place in Italy, I've looked at hundreds of places, I am also a host and have never come across anyone asking for a cash cleaning fee in order to pick up the key. After booking the place based on the pricing and fees, I received an email saying there was a cleaning fee, I took a 2nd look and under house rules (see more) I opend it up and there were the expected charges in french without translation. The fee is $25, I would have booked another place that was less if I would have seen this. It doesn't seem airbnb freindly to me, anyone else experience this?

In my view it is against AIrBnB policy - all financial transations relating to the booking should be through their platform.
