preparation time doubles up?

I have my listing set for "one day before and after prep time" but the system does not seem smart enough to know that it doesn't need to double this up. so if i have two adjacent bookings, it blocks off two days between them for cleaning/prep instead of only one. is this how it is supposed to work, or is it a bug?

@Jonathan978  As far as I've been able to deduce, it doesn't actually block 2 days between bookings- it blocks one- so a guest can book 2 days after your previous guest leaves, and the "one day after" doubles as the "one day before" the next booking.

It's also helpful to think of them as nights, rather than days.

Guest A checks in on the 1st, and checks out on the 3rd. The night of the 3rd will be blocked as the "day after".

Guest B can book the night of the 4th, the 3rd will be his "day before".
