Missing a pillow on the bed
Not a massive loss by any means. It's just sad to think someone has to steal
But in the end, it's a small, chap fix. And I guess if they REALLY NEEDED....then....

If you're certain that the pillow was stolen (and not just dropped elsewhere in your property), you should contact AirBnB and make a claim against the security deposit. AirBnB will at first put you in contact with the guest and have you "work it out" with the guest. If the guest accepts responsibility. If the guest won't respond or the two of you don't come to agreement, AirBnB will make a decision.

Of course, going through the process may be something you'd rather avoid for the price of a pillow and pillowcase.

Adding to my previous response, you could also send a message to the former guest (via AirBnB, of course) asking them if they "accidentally" took a pillow. Gives them a chance to 'fess up without necessarily saying that they took it intentionally, or lets them explain how a team of trained bats came in through the window and flew off with the pillow. Their reply (or non-reply) might help you decide whether you want to say something in their public review or not. And, if you find their explanation lacking, you should at least mention the theft in the field of their review that lets you make a comment that only AirBnB will see. That might help some future host if this guest makes a habit of taking things.

 

To message the guest, you can't access them through your calendar once their stay is over, but you can still access them via the existing message thread for that guest.

What if the missing item was noticed after the review? Can I add info. privately for future rentals they use?

No, once your review is published, that's it. You can ask for your review to be removed but you cannot change it, nor add to it and there is no private way to inform potential future hosts. 

 

You have 14 days to leave a review for a guest so, unless you are really confident that everything was okay, it's probably best to wait until you've had a proper chance to inspect the listing after check out.
