'Add Note' function is missing

Add Note' function is missing from each Calendar in the May 2025 new look.

 

What a silly idea from Airbnb!   They introduced this function not so long ago and now they have taken it away.  It was a very handy function so one could see at glance, for example, where dates had been blocked out in the calendar as to why this was the case.  Or it helped as a reminder for something (e.g. John Smith is allergic to feathers so don't put a feather duvet on the bed).

 

If something is working well, why discontinue it?  I wonder if others have noticed this and, if so, what your opinions are.  I am mightily p----d off!

im sure loads of people are using notes for dates this is a bit of a challenge for us!!! (Professional 6 listing host!)

I can see the work around in the multi calendar view on the desktop web app.

Hopefully the fix is on its way as we use this feature loads !

You're definitely not alone—many of us found the “Add Note” feature very useful. Whether it was a quick reminder about guest preferences (like allergies or special requests), or simply keeping track of why certain dates were blocked, it made calendar management much smoother. Removing it feels like a step backwards, especially for active hosts managing multiple listings or long-term stays.

Also, one more recent issue I noticed:
🔹 Earlier, the “Follow up” option in reviews would only show when a guest had not yet left a review.
🔹 Now, even after a guest has submitted a review, the follow-up prompt still appears—this creates confusion and makes it harder to track who actually reviewed and who hasn’t.

Small details like these really impact day-to-day hosting. I appreciate that you already posted in the Summer Release Q&A thread. Hopefully Airbnb listens and restores these helpful features. 🙏

Yesterday I received a message from Airbnb which read as follows:

 

"I’ve checked in with our engineering team about the feature [Add Note to Calendar] you mentioned. They confirmed that it was temporarily discontinued due to some technical issues that came up with our latest update. The good news is they’re currently working on a new and improved version of the feature. Their aim is to bring it back soon, so Hosts like yourselves can continue to benefit from it".

 

Let's hope Airbnb keep to this word!

Apparently if you turn on Professional Hosting Tools and use the Multicalendar, the Add a Private Note feature is still available. This is a workaround until Airbnb fixes Notes on the regular calendar. All Hosts can use Professional Tools, even if they only have one listing. The multicalendar is only available on desktop though; not the App:

I don't use Professional Hosting Tools.  That said, I got a message from Airbnb today which read as follows:

Well at least they said they are trying to add it back. Using Professional Hosting tools was just a workaround until they are able to add notes back to the regular. Not great, but better than nothing.

Totally agree with the above. I’m also raging. It’s driving me crazy how Airbnb keep changing everything !! Why take away the ability to write a note, it doesn’t make sense! Whoever decided this obviously doesn’t understand how important notes are!!  In order to gain good reviews I go over and above to ensure my regular customers receive personalised treatment ie a particular check in time, any shopping or take notes about allergies to name but a few! 
It’s absolutely ludicrous and now feel very vulnerable  to making mistakes through no fault of my own. 
I also don’t understand why notes have been replaced with an event notification (ie oasis concert) which is hours away and would not be of any interest to anyone staying in our area! 
Very frustrated  with Airbnb and talking to others I’m not the only one!!

My understanding is they haven’t deliberately removed the feature!  They mucked up due to poor testing and rushing the spring release out.  I’m using the multi calendar view as a work around
