Advice for different guests sharing a common space at the same time?

Curious if anyone has ever rented out multiple units at the same time that share a common space and how that has gone? We have a duplex (two units on the same lot) that can rent out as just one large unit or as two smaller units. If we rent them out as two separate units at the same time then the units would share a common deck space (*also one of the units would have to actually bypass the common deck space to access its entry). Just curious how this would potentially be with different guest interacting with each other? It would be nice to be able to rent each unit out at the same time and not worry about juggling calendars. However I am worried about the potential for conflict between two different sets of guests either using the shared deck space at the same time or running into each other, etc. Or maybe this would present an opportunity for guests to get to know new people and not feel awkward? Not sure....any feedback is appreciated! Thank you.

A lot of listings offer accommodation with shared spaces. (like multiple rooms in a house, sharing the kitchen, bathrooom, entrance hall, amenities). But if you want to list the units as a "nothing shared" accommodations (assuming they have own facilites like kitchen, bathroom etc), then you must carefully describe the shared (outside) space and especially the situation of one unit where guest must use the shared space to get in.

If you create 3 listings (1 for each unit and one for both), you must link the calenders to pevent doubl bookings: Linking-calendars-for-multiple-listings

That’s helpful, especially the part about the calendars, thank you!
