Hi Chris, you're right in saying that you're on your own if guests damage your property. I had evidence of guests damaging mine and Airbnb refused to reimburse me or hold the guests accountable. They even claimed (without evidence) that my place was faulty/broken before the guests arrived, even though I shared pictures of before and after. I will give the guests a real honest review as I don't think anyone else has, and then unfortunately remove my listing altogether. I've had a very nasty experience with uncivilized guests who are apparently Airbnb regulars.
