Airbnb founder co founder joins Musk at new Dept of Government Efficiency
I was shocked to read that Airbnb co founder Joe Gebbia is joining Elon Musk at this new government department which has already sacked 10,000 in a government witchunt - with no notice or reason.
It certainly doesn't align with the Airbnb brand of being open and welcoming to all.

@Helen3 thanks for sharing this. As I sit in far away Ghana I can only say that the goings on on the other side of various ponds and seas affect us all. Global village etc. Most of us in the thread are clearly not naive-- we know that as hosts and guests we will be affected by the presence, clout and influence of the billionaires. The personal is political as they say. Nothing in this world is neutral. I will be adding my voice to the cries of disappointment.

He's still on the board but has also been inactive for several years now. I get why people want to jump ship but I'm not shooting myself in the foot to spite my nose. Literally zero people would care if I leave the platform or not.

It would really depend on how many people leave the platform as hosts and guests.
of course if enough do it will affect their reputation and business model

Change what business model?
I get some guests not wanting to give their money to a brand like tesla or stop driving because big oil helped fund this administration .....but to stop your income flow to spite a few billionaires is just silly. Less competition for me I guess.

Sure it's up to you. @Alessandro2064
Obviously one individual leaving the platform won't make a difference .
its the power of collective action from hosts and guests that will.
look at Tesla.

I am dismayed that this has happened. I’m heartened by the many calls to boycott the Airbnb service. I’m sharing alternatives to Airbnb with all my friends and on social media

This is absolutely shameful and I want nothing to do with this business anymore.

I shouldn’t be shocked to see billionaires glooping together to reek havoc on systems that create checks and balances (though weak ones, admittedly) in order to gain more wealth to fill the vapid hole where they’re soul should be.
I'm done with air bnb, both as a host and a guest.

I am deleting my AIRBNB account and booking my future trips with VRBO. At some point the only way my voice is heard is by not giving my money to companies that are actively political.

Thanks for initiating this important question. First step seems to give our feedback and see how they respond. Email or call. https://www.airbnb.com/help/feedback

Just sent this in airbnb feedback: https://www.airbnb.com/help/feedback; I will call them in a couple days.
Hello- I have been loyal with airbnb since the beginning, both host and guest. I went through the growth pains with faith that airbnb would do the "right" thing. The news of Joe Gebbia joining DOGE - on FB, the report is "airbnb supports Musk". Like many, I need immediate answers about how airbnb current leadership supports Gebbia and Musk's DOGE. We need you to speak up and take action for the good of all. Not Project 2025. Because of who you really are and what you truly stand for. Thank you!! Liz Faller
