Airbnb host not responding

Hi,

Should I be concerned about a host not responding after I booked? It was instant book, and they have good reviews. I've sent two messages, and his page says he has 100% response. My trip isn't for months so maybe that's why he isn't getting back to me, but is this a bad sign of things to come? I am fine being left alone for my stay, but it would be nice to at least have a hi when booking a place. Other hosts say hi and all that nice stuff. I just want to avoid potential issues in the future.

Thanks

@Sean926 Yes. with a 100 percent response rate iIwould have expected an immediate response at least to say hello and run through a few rules or to say thanks for booking or to say . we will be in touch closer to your dates or to send an email or phone number.all the best . they may just be sleeping . Yeah that's what I was thinking, and I'm thinking the is could be a warning sign. It's been a few days actually

@Helen744 First impressions are lasting impressions. Is this the same way host will act once you start your stay? If it were me, I would cancel and give reason why. As a host, I always respond immediately with a thank you message.

@Gwen386 I am not sure that you could call this actually Gwen.Sean has a number of options before cancellation . His emails should have a booking number and a call to Airbnb will give him the information he needs.Ib means he is booked . My experience is that many guests do not respond to requests for information and I have come to realise that they seem not to be getting the information ,especially if they do not have the app on their phones .check that you have your app activated and also check your emails Sean , you may find an alternate way to connect with your host . Also hosts will be hosting . I check my emails , and messages every day in the morning . As you have not had to speak with the host 'before booking ' then I suspect the host may have assumed that you did this deliberately in order to avoid the host . Keep trying and let us know how it works out . Do not cancel as it will probably cost you. idf the host speaks to you,  or not you are still booked as that is what IB is .H

you sound like the perfect guest Sean , dont worry too much but follow through on a few things . I am sure it will be fine H

Thanks. Yeah I'll let you know how it goes.

Yeah it's a shame, it's a nice place. But this is a bad impression

Bad manners I would say, I usually respond right way if its during the day my husband is always on the computer and the app notifies me, The only reason I dont reply is if it's in the night here in Thailand but bye 6 am they will get a reply.

Good Hosting!

Still no response, so I decided to spend more to stay with a host I am more comfortable with. It's worth it, and it looks like a nicer place.

@Sean926   I am sorry you did not get a response.  I always do send a message once I receive a booking, thanking the guest for their reservation and asking them to let me know if they have any special requirements etc.  However I do have to admit there was one occasion early this year when a combination of personal events distracted me, I simply forgot and it took me a few days to remember.  I was extremely embarrassed about this and did message the guest to apologise.  This did not effect my response rate which I now suspect hinges on responding to enquiries and trip requests rather than messages once a booking has been confirmed.  Pleased that you have now resolved this and booked something you are more comfortable with.
