Arrival details

Hello.  When do guests receive the arrival details?  It contains the door code and I didn't want that info out there too early in advance of the arrival time.

What i do on my end is to set a schedule message to be sent with the code an hour before arrival.

I do send ALL the instructions, guidelines, house rules, etc. right after they confirm the booking, but the code is only an hour before.

I do have software in place to set the code for each specific guest and it won't be active until their check-in time.

Hope that helps!

@Michael5047 does your system work for foreign guests who may not be able to access the code on arrival in the country? I wouldn't want to travel without everything in place before I left home

Well, I have some softwares in place where a code will be generated based on the last 4 digits of the guest's Airbnb verified phone number. So, when I send the booking confirmation message (right after they book) it reads something like ''the code to open the door will be the last 4 digits of your phone number but they'll be active only at check in date/time''

Hope that helps!

@Michael5047 that's really clever (and not quite what you said in your earlier post).

I send out check in instructions 24 hr prior to guest arrival along with other bits of information. We are on site so we can monitor (most of the time) guest arrival/check in etc… I try to personalize the message by using the guest first name when sending out greetings and check in/check out instructions.

@Stephanie2206   I do not include the door code on the website, even in the area for guest instructions.  I send the information to the guest in a separate email that they have to acknowledge.  That email contains their assigned door code, when it will be active, a turn by turn driving map and a copy of the house rules.  Because we are in the mountains, many guests will not have service on their phones until they have attached to our Wifi, so they need the Welcome PDF.
