I decided to sell my house so I’m canceling reservations that are months out. Why am I being charged a fee?

Host cancellations can result in penalties. The reason is that a host cancellation disrupts the guest’s travel plans. 

When a host cancels, the guest can be left scrambling to find another place to stay, often at the last minute and sometimes at a much higher price.

@Tracy1256 . Its a tough one but when hosts think about selling the first thing they should do is block their calendar for future dates and only allow a small booking window imo. Cancellation fees are a cost of doing business.

If you havent sold already consider waiting until you know you have a buyer and ready to exchange before cancelling. You might be able to complete a few of those bookings. Plus there is a possibility the buyer might want to take over the bookings (even if it has to be done manually as Airbnb does not allow transfers of confirmed bookings).

I host in a holiday town and sometimes it can take months and months for a place to sell, just saying.
