Cannot update quick replies

Cannot update quick replies

I'm trying to make a very basic edit to one of my quick replies but the save button grays out as soon as I change even one letter in the message.  It never returns for me to update/SAVE the change.  Any advice on this problem?  I've tried using both Safari and Chrome browsers.

12 Replies 12

I can update it on my phone I just noticed - so there is that.

That's got to be painful!

I noticed I can update on my phone as well.  In my case, I guess I will retype the 5 core messages I have into an email, then open on my phone and copy/paste into the fields that seem to be working in the phone app version of summer release.  Arrgh..................

I figured it out thanks to a call to Airbnb Support!  You cannot access them from an individual guest message thread itself.

Go to Listings and Messages then click Settings gear.  The messages will appear in the left hand pane.  Then you can save and they will be applied and available for use in future messages.

Yes...the most recent update changed functionality with messages. There is what I consider a bug in that unless you click into the message itself, the add details button on the desktop stays greyed-out. As you said, it works fine in the App.

I was able to edit Quick Replies by selecting the message in left panel I wanted to change, then click anywhere in the message and the "Add Details" will activate (no longer greyed out). Make your changes and in the right panel you will see the Save button and which listings you want it to apply to:

These steps don't resolve the issue for me.  I selected the reply from the list and it shows up on the right pane of the window.  I click that area (text of the message) and it switches to fill the window and allows me to edit text.  At this point (before any changes) the Add Details is showing fine.  As soon as I modify any character space in the reply - even just add a space anywhere, the SAVE button on the right goes gray and does not reappear or work.  Again - only in the desktop version.

Ok...that is strange as I am able to edit messages fine and save them?

I would copy the message. Then create a new duplicate message and make your edits and try saving it. If this works, delete the old message you couldn't edit.

I would also take screen shots before you try this and forward to Airbnb as a bug.

Me either.  I follow them and I get a blank broken page.

I am having the same issue as Anne-Marie.  It is not all of my Quick Messages, but new ones and some old ones.....

Hi Anne-Marie,

Thanks for posting.  It seems that I have the same problem.  I had to recreate my main whole house listing due to the LA Fires price gouging not accepting any rate that was not horribly low and not understanding Demand Pricing.  Anyway, when I created the listing from an existing listing, it did not forewarn me that Quick Replies would not be swept with everything else.

I went to old guest correspondence to copy/paste, but I can not figure it out.  It does not seem to allow anything but the Title to be edited.

Did you put a "ticket" in with Customer Support?

I have not done that yet.

Jean

You would need to click the name of the message on the left side on the old listing. Then click anywhere inside the message to be able to copy/paste it. Copy it then open the new listing and paste into the new listing messages.

Hi @Anne-Marie532,

You're definitely not alone in this — several hosts have noticed the same bug after the recent updates. Thanks for bringing it up in the Community.

As others have shared, there seems to be a workaround:

Mobile App – Editing quick replies via the Airbnb app on your phone currently works fine. You can use this to make urgent changes.

Desktop Workaround – Instead of editing an existing message, try creating a new quick reply and copy/paste the updated version there. Then delete the old one.

Settings Access – As @Jean174 pointed out, go to the Messages tab > click the gear icon for Settings > then make edits from there rather than from within a guest message thread.

It’s a bit clunky for now, but hopefully Airbnb’s tech team rolls out a fix soon. In the meantime, these steps should help you stay functional without too much disruption.

Thanks again for highlighting this—it helps all of us!

Warm wishes,
—Team Arya Stay
