Changing Reservation

Changing Reservation

So I got told today that my Host is in the Hospital and in a coma. I want to get out of the way of the family so am looking to checkout early (3 months early). Is there a cost?  I have already paid for a whole month and am not looking to get a refund.  I want to just stop the payments. What do I do?   I called the help desk and they keep saying that they need to contact the host.

Hi again @Amanda2477

You're quite right to speak to the family first before cancelling.  Have a look at the "trips" section under your Airbnb account and there you can see the amount you have already paid and Airbnb itemise the next monthly instalments by amount and date due.

The bit that says "amount yet to be paid " under amount due is misleading I find so hopefully someone can provide clarity on that but if the family need your accommodation for their own use, they might be able to waiver the 30 day notice?

Good luck

Hello @Amanda2477

What terrible news for the family.

You have booked a long stay on an Airbnb and as such the usual terms are that a guest has to give one months notice but this can be shortened with the hosts approval.  It's not clear whether your stay has actually started Amanda and if it hasn't, the start date of your stay will play a role too.

Here is a link that explains long stay terms of cancellation to see where you stand:

Do you know if your poor host was the only one dealing with their Airbnb or if there is a co-host maybe that you can contact?

Let us know how you get on,

All the best

Joëlle

Hello,

My stay has started and doesn't end till Dec 9th.  When I went through the window for cancellation it showed the photo below.  Does this mean I owe nothing since it is a negative number?  (I am not looking for a refund at all)Capture2 (2).PNG

To be clear I haven't hit the submit for cancel.  I am going to talk to the family this afternoon about it.
