I’m raising a serious concern regarding Airbnb’s review moderation process, as I’ve encountered a situation that directly contradicts the platform’s own policies.
A guest left a review on my listing that was clearly retaliatory and contained false claims. After escalation, Airbnb’s specialized team reviewed the case and made the decision to remove the review, confirming that it violated their review guidelines.
However, unexpectedly and without any communication, this same review has now been republished on my listing.
This raises critical questions:
- How can a review identified as retaliation and factually inaccurate be reinstated?
- Was a second review conducted, and if so, what justified overturning the initial decision?
- How are hosts supposed to trust the outcome of a “specialized team” review if it can be reversed without explanation?
Retaliatory and misleading reviews can significantly damage a host’s reputation and business. If such content can reappear after being formally removed, it creates a serious lack of confidence in the system that is meant to protect both hosts and guests.
I have contacted Airbnb support again to request clarification and removal, but I believe it’s important to bring visibility to this issue within the host community.
Has anyone experienced a similar situation?
Thank you for your feedback and insights!! 😊
