Entering the premises

Hello,

I am a new host, and I have a guest booked for over 18 nights.  I have offered cleaning and changing of linens and towels, but he has not responded. I provided some options in my message, asking him if he would like to wash the towels and linens himself (I have a washer and dryer in the unit), let me know what schedule suits him for cleaning, etc. However, he has not responded to my messages.  He is out most of the day for work, and I assume he is very busy.  Can I enter the premises if he does not respond?

Thanks,

Hello @Ofelia60 ,

In one word: NO!

You cannot enter the space while there is an active reservation before check out without the guest’s presence or consent unless it is an emergency.

If the guest finds out, whether by noticing themselves or through their own IP camera monitoring the space when they are not there (yes, some guests do this), and reports it to Airbnb, your listing will be instantly and permanently suspended.

Some guests do not expect or appreciate further communication during their stay. As one once told me, “I am on holiday, I do not want to use my phone.”

Let me tell you, that guest was not a good one, and a few minor things went missing too.

So take this as a warning and a red flag. Keep an eye on what is going on, but do not enter the space.

Be sure to send a message with check out information the day before they leave, explaining how you expect them to leave the place.

And do not post your review before the guest writes theirs.

Please keep us updated if the guest gets in touch.

Hello @Guy991,

Thanks so much for your response which is very helpful , with me being new in this business. I have noted that as much as we want to provide the best services to our guests, there are bounderies to consider. I will keep you updated if I get a response. It’s a separate entrance so there is a possibility that I won’t see him but will respect his privacy.

Hi @Ofelia60

No, you cannot enter a rented property without the guest’s permission  doing so would violate their privacy and Airbnb’s policies. If your guests want their linens or towels changed, they’ll usually reach out to let you know. If they’re not responding, it’s best to respect their space and leave them undisturbed. What matters is that you’ve already offered the cleaning and linen change  this shows good communication, professionalism, and respect for their comfort and boundaries.

Hello @Patricia2526,

Thanks for the tip and the assurance that I have done my part in reaching out to the guest to offer cleaning and linen change.

I have not received a response yet, so I will leave it at that.

@Ofelia60 Have you heard anything more from the guest since?
