Hi Walter,

if there’s no stipulation in your listing about charging for extra guests and the current number of guests is still within the allowable maximum for the property, your options may be limited in terms of requesting additional fees for the extra guest. Here’s what you can do:

  1. Communicate with the Guest: Politely remind the guest to update their reservation to reflect the correct number of occupants. This can help in avoiding any confusion or misunderstandings for future stays.

  2. Update Your Listing: For future bookings, consider adding a clear policy in your listing that details any extra guest fees after a certain number of guests. This will help set expectations and allow you to charge appropriately in similar situations going forward. You may also update your settings using the instruction here: https://www.airbnb.com/help/article/1507

  3. Review Policies: If the extra guest doesn't impact your ability to host comfortably or break any house rules, you may decide to let it slide this time. However, if it affects your costs (e.g., water, electricity, or cleaning), mention it to the guest and consider asking them to adjust their booking accordingly.

If you want to be stricter for future stays, adding an extra guest fee policy can be very effective in preventing these situations.

I hope this helps.

All the best,
