First time using AIRBNB :(

I just joined AirBNB. Off to a bad start. Host declined me because I was new and hadn't yet completed my profile. What a fine welcome to AirBNB.

That was definitely not cool of the host. Over the years about 30%-40% of our guests are first timers, so we ask enough questions and quickly enough we find out they are cool and first timers to Airbnb. In fact, they joined Airbnb because of our listing and that is why they are first timers.

In all likelihood you have about 100 other choices to choose from unless you are looking at either the North or South Poles.

Many hosts do not welcome guests with no reviews just like guests oftentimes do not book in new places with no reviews.

Perhaps if the host had sent me a less terse and dismissive reply, and could have been more informative and waited until I completed my profile, then I wouldn't have posted this. I am a seasoned traveller unfamiliar with AirBNB ins and outs. I know there are more choices and hosts have rights. I did find another property perhaps even in a better location!

@William-C7 I guess this just shows that Airbnb properties are not hotels. The hosts may be sharing their space with guests so have every right to know something about them. Equally a host may be allowing a guest to stay in a very valuable (to them at least) place - again perhaps it is fair to know something about the guest.
