Gebbia

Just sent emails to Brian Chesky and Nathan:

Joe Gebbia's actions are hurting AirBnB and hurting hosts. AirBnB shares are down almost 5%. Guests are canceling their visits.  Hosts are dropping their listings.

We opened our AirBnB for retirement income. We’ve been on the platform for 6 years, always with Superhost status. I was very disturbed to learn that Joe Gebbia has joined DOGE. I do not see this as representative of the home sharing group I joined and may need to pull my listing from AirBnB. I’ve never cared for VRBO, but AirBnB's involvement with DOGE is the antithesis of the AirBnB that I joined and have defended.

Please fix this: https://www.nytimes.com/2025/02/13/us/politics/airbnb-joe-gebbia-musk-doge.html by removing Joe Gebbia from the AirBnB board and making an announcement to that effect.

Sincerely,

I feel the same.  I've been with AIRBNB for 13 years, and greatly have appreciated pretty much every thing about the company.  During Covid they sent us money as so many hosts had lost their reservations - they didn't have to, but they did.  AIRBNB.org is a wonderful organization, right now many hosts are providing free shelter for people who lost their homes in the L.A. fires through that organization.  And I admire the CEO, Brian Chesky,  who has never supported or advocated for Trump, and is in fact a humanitarian, donating millions to a charity and scholarship he founded with Obama, who is a friend of his ( (https://skift.com/2024/05/05/brian-chesky-explains-his-100-million-donation-to-the-obama-foundation/).

It's really not fair that this one man, Gebbia, can possibly ruin a company that benefits so many, and has good leadership at its helm.  I hope they can get Gebbia off of the board, and make it clear they are not supporting DOGE, before it's too late.
