Guest for a month not showing up

I have a guest who booked for a month ( november ) arrived on first day and stayed for few minutes and left smiling.She checked the room and left but never come back …i messaged her 2 days after no response then messaged again after 2 days but never respond.I called her and left voice message but did not call back.I asked airbnb to contact her but unable to respons as well.Im waiting for airbnb support and still waiting for 24 hr time frame given to her to respond back.What should I do with this?Anyone has the same experience?Ive been superhost and never experience this the whole time…normally guest responds back.Some they dont but they had short stay..this one is a month long and she is on her 7th day…any answers would be greatly apprecaited..its stressing me…I just wanna know where she at or if she is ok…

It's sweet of you to be concerned, but as an independent, often-solo, adult traveler, I would be really irritated by a host who was constantly checking in on me or following up on my whereabouts.  You're getting paid whether she's there or not and she likely has a partner/parents/friends who would report it if she was truly "missing".  While it's kind of you to worry, she is not your responsibility.  I would leave her to her life and get on with other things.

thank you Jennifer

I do message my guest to remind them that we are available if they need us..mostly first day and check out time and longer stay like 1-2x a week just because we give them space…we stay away from them even we are in the same house.

We dont bother or track them..just for this booking because I never forsee this happening since she was ok when she arrived.She did  not even sit in the bed..it was left untouched.

All started when tried to contact and never responds back..I usually gets response from guest ..this is very unusual to

us..the worry thing starts.

Its nice to know that there are people like this…she does not have a review yet..she probably did not like the set up for airbnb and kind if irritated by not getting her booking altered or get a refund in which she never asked.I do believe that she wanted it or has intention but never brought up and continue  with her booking instead.

A host doesn’t have any obligation to keep track of guests’ whereabouts and should try to be neutral when it comes to their personal information except in extreme circumstances.

The odds are strongly in favor of her being exactly where she wants to be at this moment.

 If someone calls looking for her, my response would be, “I’m sorry but I cannot release any information about any guest, but if you think this person is missing you should file a police report.”

Of course you must cooperate with the police if they show up.

 I think the most likely scenario is that she is doing something she wants to keep private and so she rented an inexpensive room so she could tell people she is staying there when actually she is somewhere else doing something she doesn’t plan to confess.

 I do think that in a homeshare situation a guest should have the courtesy to let the host know when they will be present, but they don’t have to do that.

 I promise my guests peace, quiet and privacy and I do my best to see that they get it.

My last words to them after I show them the house are: “You won’t see me again unless you want to, but please feel free to call or text if you need anything.”

@Brian2036

thank you again

I dont know which part to go..it is where the confusion starts.

Thoughts like..is she missing or just dont wanna disturb?I wonder if this guest is really saying the truth that she is working to the place she said so…did she ever showed up to work?

Should I just wait until check out time..as suggested by airbnb..this is what I have to do since she did not respond to them as well.

Her phone rings..im thinking if the phone is hers ..it should be empty by now or maybe intentionally ignored by her ir maybe it was not even hers…correct me if in wrong…

I have had a few guests simply disappeared on us and never showed up at all. I e-mailed them once or twice after a few days and that was that. To this day I wonder if their 'stay' was part of a larger mystery, who knows.

@Fred13

thank you for sharing your experience…

I don’t have access on their email..I rather used airbnb page for documentation purposes.

how long your guest should be staying and never showed up?Do you live in the same house theyre renting?Did you just wait until check out time?

I played out the reservations as if they were there, not knowing when they would show up and waited till end of their 'stay'.  The whole scene is a bit spooky,  since never found out what was behind the not only not showing up at all but zero further communication. They were direct customers, meaning I had their direct e-mails.

I rent a separate place.

@Fred13

yours would be easier to deal with..

I live in the house where she should be at…

I think about mine every night..

I hope I have a separate place for guest like out of the house..I might not be able to waste time worrying about others.

thanks…I hope she come back before check out time..

@Mary-Jane17 as many have pointed out, it should not be your concern although it is sweet that it is. Make sure to not accept any mail for this guest though

@Inna22

Thank you

I am a newbie…just a year old but able to maintain a 5 star status as superhost continuesly..and comments mostly about the host - i never thought that us being so concern to guest is actually too much..im learning..thank to all the inputs - greatly appreciated.

This is why this things is stressing me because I never encountered a guest who never ever responds back after checking in.
