Guest gifts

I am new at hosting and would like to know what things you leave for your guests on arrival.

The difference with me is that I am not there to greet guests so it would need to be something easy that the cleaner could leave out.

any suggestions would be appreciated.

Sometimes I bake some fresh muffins in leave them in a glass cake stand for my guests.

I make sure to have snacks on hand for guest's convenience.

I also make sure to have all small toiletries in stock just in case a guest may have forgotten something: razors, toothbrushes, toothpaste, maxi-pads, tampons, toothpicks, dental floss, lotion, etc.

@Glenda119  I don't leave gifts for guests. I pick a sweet little bouquet of fresh flowers and greenery for their private room, I offer them a snack when they arrive if they are hungry, so they don't have to right away go shopping, and I offer to pick them up a the bus station, which is a 5 minute drive. Aside from that, nothing other than a clean and comfortable space.

In the past, I have created illustrations of the city/location for some property managers to leave out as a gift in the room. Another customer wanted a small map created with local highlights that should could include in her printed guest welcome letter that she gives to everyone who stays.

I really love working with hosts on creating these kind of things, because it definitely makes the stay more personal. Plus,  it's a great way to get your guests to have a sense of what you love about the place they are.

In general, guests love the recommendations so I think the print plus a recommendations list is a successful piece. They can leave the recommendations behind and take the print with them if they want. (As a guest, I know that these extra touches do make the stay memorable; I now do have some of those postcards in frames around my house, as a memory of an amazing trip.)

It's also affordable. I love making illustrations, and send my clients the digital file when it's finished. Then, you just take the file to your local print shop and have them do the printing and trimming for you.

Feel free to get in touch with any questions you may have!

hello @Glenda119 and welcome to ABB & CC from a fellow New Zealander.

I saw from your profile you are up at Mangawhai, beaut spot.

How about taking some nice photographs in the area and printing them off, or finding some nice postcards and say Thanks for coming to stay etc with the name of your ABB and how to contact you?

I've found my guests love the postcards and bookmarks I've given to them as a momento for either on their fridge, or in a book.

All the best for your ABB
