hi its been almost one year i have listed my listing on airbnb but still i am not getting any enquiry nor any booking .
I’ve been hosting for a number of years but this was a first today - a guest sent an alteration request for the dates so I accepted it. I noticed it was for slightly less money but thought it could be the change in dates, maybe they were staying for less time etc so I accepted it without properly looking. I then looked later and the nightly fee had been amended from £45/night to £10/night. I contacted Airbnb and they told me the guest had manually changed it when they did the date change request. I didn’t know this was possible? They suggested I send the guest a money request to make up the difference but not sure they are going to be keen to pay or. This happened to anyone else? Did you know guests can do this without it notifying you they have?

Hi @Hannah1217
Thank you for sharing this in our Community. I know you’ve already been in touch with Airbnb/customer service, but I'd like to recommend some articles that might help clarify the situation. The first article, "Modifying a Reservation as a Host," explains that guests can send you an alteration request to either shorten their trip or add nights.
The price will change only if the number of nights or guests changes or if you, the Host, sends a trip change request (info about that here). It's important to note, as outlined in the "Manage Your Price Settings" article, that only Hosts have the ability to modify the nightly rate of the listing.
As your situation looks unusual, I've gone ahead and forwarded your case to the team for review. They should contact you with further information.
@Hannah1217 this is a new one on me. It just shows that you need to be careful with these requests. We had one where they wanted to check in at 2am (which we missed).

Thanks Paula, this is how it had always happened in the past. But this time the nightly price changed, I couldn’t understand how so I contacted Airbnb support and they sent me the messages seen in photos and spoke to me on the phone confirming the guest had somehow manually changed the nightly price. The guest has not yet responded to my message or call to agree to pay the amended fee. I really appreciate you looking into this as I would like to make sure this can not happen again. Or to anyone else.

Hi, the guest has now replied and agreed to pay the additional charge. He also says he doesn’t know how the price changed and says he is not aware of manually changing it as suggested by the Airbnb customer services. Who knows!
