Dear members,
I am a new host, female, and I live in the apartment I've listed. So far, I have accepted couples or solo female guests, as a woman I am sorry to say that we live in a world where I don't feel comfortable hosting men at my place.
However, I could make exceptions if I wouldnt find the following, an important issue : why we can have only little info on a guest BEFORE approving their request? I cannot see their profile picture not the reviews.
Of course I have been refusing bookings with "weird" contact requests, too direct, too unpolite, too new on the platform etc...but I think that we should be able to see at least the reviews , (if not the picture as an antidiscrimination measure).
Any tips?
Thanks,
Ida

Hello @Ida3866
Just to add to Helen's comments, If you click on the blank profile that is all black until they book, where there is only the first letter of their name in lieu of their photo, you should be redirected to a page where you see their reviews - if they have any of course. You will also see if they have made other trips, if they are a host etc. It's not much I agree but you can see any reviews left by other hosts! Thank goodness!!
And yes, I quite understand why you may not be comfortable hosting men in your home and Airbnb makes an exception for you to state that you only accept females so include that clearly in your house rules and description. I don't know what their position is for those that identify themselves as female though?

Be careful of refusing too many guests as this may play against you in the long run and the link above will tell you to use "I'm not comfortable with this guest" when refusing.
Happy hosting!

As a female host you can specify you only take female guests but you can't say you take only female guests and couples.
Ive been hosting as a female homeshare host for nine years and take all guests who meet my criteria for stays.
i include vetting questions as part of my IB process . You can't see a guests profile photo before they book to help avoid discrimination. @Ida3866
