Host changing prices after deposit payment

Hi Friends,

Trust you are well and trying to get some advice here.

I had found an amazing house and paid all deposits. The host told me they had some additional services which were available at an extra price however I decided to not use those services. We however emailed multiple times and they confirmed my booking including the number of people (15).

About a month after the booking, they messaged to say that I had only booked 5 of the 9 bedrooms and would need to book and pay for the additional rooms to accommodate all my guests. This would amount to an additional $2500 for my entire stay.

I found this strange as they had previously confirmed the number of people and their listing was for the entire house. I then went back on their listing and they had changed it to say that they were only offering 5 of 9 bedrooms and the others were extra.

Can hosts do this 1) Change the pricing after booking and deposit paid 2) Change their listing so that they it represents their new story and most importantly 3) What can I do. I really want to stay there but I am concerned that they may try and change other aspects of the reservation. I'm not sure if they are just trying to get rid of us but this can't be professional behaviour

@Aleck6 No the host cannot do this. Well they can but is not allowed. Either they are a new host who didn't set the listing up correctly or they are just bandits.

Your problems that you and 14 friends turn up and find that the host refuses you entry to the additional bedrooms. I would contact Airbnb with your concerns and ask them to confirm with the host that you will get the full house with no additional charges.
