Good afternoon,
Yesterday I contacted Airbnb due to issues with my host.
I had several problems such as dirtiness, wi-fi not functioning, electricity issues, hosts entering the apartment without my permission ( I booked the entire flat) and very high humidity.
The host got pretty upset when I mentioned these issues to him and offered me a new stay as soon as I mentioned Airbnb to him.
He had me packing in 20 minutes, drove me to another place and dropped me in the middle of the road.
The other apartment was ok, however the host entered without my permission, without even contacting me (he did it in the previous apartment too).
I, then, called Airbnb and informed them about the host breaking privacy and change of apartment, since the host had not altered the reservation.
Host went crazy on me and sent me a message saying "IF YOU ARE COMPLAINING TO AIRBNB NOW, GET OUT OF MY FLAT NOW, TODAY".
He wrote all of it in capitals and then called to threaten me over the phone.
I vacated the apartment as I was afraid of his reaction and he was pretty aggressive on the phone using vulgar language and repeated threats.
(I was afraid he could seriously hurt me or throw away all my belongings)
I found a hotel for the night and I am still waiting for Airbnb to get back to me.
I am still in the hotel, my previous reservation is still valid since there has been no change made from Airbnb or the host, and I had to block the host's number as his threats were scary and continuous.
I can't go back to the apartment and I am not willing to book another apartment through Airbnb until I see a solution to my case.
What would you do?
Shall I report him to the police?
The last message sent by the host was, in summarize, "go back to your country and do not come to mine anymore"
It's been 17 hours since I contacted Airbnb with my issue. I do not know what to do anymore.
Please help. Thanks!
@Giuseppe-Jay0 Sorry to hear that you've found yourself in this situation. If you still feel unsafe or you still have property inside of the Airbnb, calling the police is probably a good idea. However, if you and your belongings are safe, I'm not sure that it will help.
If you're not able to contact Airbnb by phone, I would contact them by social media. They are generally pretty responsive on Twitter @airbnbhelp.
I wish you the best, and I hope you're able to get a resolution quickly.
Thank you so much for your reassuring words.
I called them several times and I was told the Case Manager will contact me ASAP.
It's been 18 hours now.
My case is open yet not solved.
I will be waiting for them to call me back, even though the waiting is very unpleasant due to circumstances.
Thanks again.
@Giuseppe-Jay0 You may be waiting a long time for someone to get back to you. Do as Alexandra suggested and try Twitter. Many people report quicker action being taken by Airbnb that way. Seems they hate bad press on social media.
Thank you for your help.
I have done so on Twitter. Waiting for an update.
Hi @Giuseppe-Jay0,
I'm really sorry to hear about your experience, I hope you're ok.
I have inquired the Support team about your case and they told me an agent is currently working on it. They should be getting in touch with you soon.
I truly hope this helps. Please let us know if you have any other concerns.
Thanks,
Liv
