Hosts not complying with Non-Discrimination and Hosting guests with accessibility needs

I would sure like to talk, communicate with someone at Airbnb. I am finding hosts that do not care about or abide with your policies on Non-Discrimination and Hosting guests with accessibility needs. Perhaps, someone who is responsible for hosts being educated on what is required ??? What kind of education do hosts receive? Can someone with Airbnb contact me to discuss?

Hi @Kathleen1201

I see that you're seeking a response from Airbnb, but it would also be useful to the hosts here in the community if you could explain the circumstances and the policy violations you refer to.

It'll help us understand and think through the situation.

I posted here because it appears some hosts are unaware of the policies. It is my  understanding hosts must agree to the policies when they sign up to become a host.  I would hope that all hosts would have read them of when presented with questions, would refer back to the applicable policy.

a@Kathleen1201   I appears that you have had an issue with a host that did not have an accessible property or was unwilling to accommodate an animal.  A truism that we often state is that "guests do not read".  Apparently, that is also applicable to some hosts.

Properties do not always lend themselves to meeting the requirements for Accessibility Needs.  I do not list my property as being accessible in any way.  If asked, I will answer any question about the property and the challenges it would present to a guest with special needs.

I accept animals in my rental properties, but many hosts do not for various reasons.  While I support any person who has a bona fide service animal to be able to rent a property, I also support those hosts who wish to offer pet-free properties and wish that people with pets and ESAs would not persist in trying to rent them.  I do not find hosts discriminatory if they advertise a pet-free property.

"What makes a listing suitable for a guest varies, and it's never the host's responsibility to determine suitability for a guest. The most important thing you can do as a host is to provide clear and accurate information about your listing, and to communicate with your guests."
