How to block previous guests?

We've been very fortunate to mostly have great guests, but there have been a few that we never want to host again.  I went back to those bookings and I don't see where I can block them (am using phone app).  Can we block a previous guest, and if so how?  Also, if we block them, is that the same as "reporting" them?  Will airbnb investigate or want a reason and will these guests be notified?

I just simply want to block them, mostly due to difficult personalities and my inability to please them (for example, one person sent a nasty message complaining that the ocean tides were too high during the time she wanted to walk on our beach. I think her end game was a discount).

1. You can block a guest from the message system by reporting a message to Airbnb, then in this proces you also block the guest.

 

2. There used to be a "block" option on the profile, as still explained in the help file.

But it seems to me it is gone, I do not see the option appearing on user profiles (?)

 

Recently there was also issue with he block function, see:
