Identity verification for guest

Hi,

I received a message from the host asking to share my driver's license and said that airbnb doesn't allow check in without verification. Is this true?

Thanks,

Kudrat

No it's a 100% not true. However if the host says on the listing it's a condition of booking on the listing usually in the house rules, that you provide them with photo ID then you need to provide it if you want to stay with them.

In addition in some countries hosts have to collect photo ID.

@Kudrat0 No it is not true. However hosts are allowed to check the person booking is the person staying - How they do this is unclear

The legal definition Verification is defined as a Legal Name, residential or mailing address, date of birth, telephone number, email address and the like.

It does not mean that you must provide a copy of each and every tick the box question/Option that is there, it may be a mix of them however one's name is usually a common place to start.
