If a parent books, can their child, a minor stay alone in the apartment

Hi,

My daughter wants to travel alone, and she is 17. We have discussed staying in airbnb's, and as someone under 18 cannot book an apartment, I was wondering if it would be okay if I booked for her and talked to the host about having her stay there alone. Otherwise it would be quite hard for me to arrange accomodation for her as she will be in France, and we live in Australia.

Hi @Christine385 Sorry but third party bookings aren't allowed on Airbnb. Your daughter would have to book for herself, and she would have to be 18 to do so. You could approach a host and explain your situation, but you would be asking that host to break the rules. Hope that helps - Karen

Why not consider supervised hostels? Just an option, lots in France. Google : International Hosteling Association.
