Increase in Cancellations

I have recently seen a big increase in cancellations. Have others noticed this? Is this due to the economy or something in the travel industry? Are other hosts experiencing an increase in cancellations?

HI @Edith86  - we've seen a general change in booking behaviour, including an increase in cancellations. The other big change for us is a significant decrease in booking lead time.

On our end, we've seen an increase in "place-holding" reservations. In other words a guest is considering several spots, different traveler reserves STRs all over the place and then a final travel decision is made and cancellations are made. This relates to the below a little bit.

I would also say that the announcement of the world cup cities recently spurred a lot of commotion across this industry and probably changed existing travel plans for a lot of folks. That's my outside view at least.

No I use a strict cancellation policy and people rarely cancel @Edith86
