Is this a scam?

I've just reserved a place in London for our trip that is 1/4 of the price of other similar properties in the same area. There are no reviews as yet. Is this a low cost since it's new on the platform or is this an attempt at scamming people?

Hi Shannon,

A low-cost Airbnb property with no reviews can be legitimate, as new hosts often price competitively to attract bookings. However, it's important to assess carefully. Look for a complete host profile by clicking the Host profile photo, detailed listing information, and professional photos.

Reaching out to the host with questions can provide insight into their authenticity. Always avoid off-platform payments and ensure all transactions and communication occur through Airbnb. If the deal seems suspiciously good or something feels off, consider reporting it to Airbnb for verification.

I hope this helps.

All the best,

It would be highly be unusual for a host to put a new listing on at a quarter of the price of other listings @Shannon1152

A better time to ask this question is before you make the booking 😀

no one can advise you here on whether it's a scam or a new host making a big error in pricing based on the information you've shared I'm afraid.

Hi @Shannon1152 😊,

Welcome to the community, and thank you for asking this question here!

Our hosts shared great advice with you. Did you get a chance to review it?

There's a popular thread in our Community Center where an experienced host has shared some useful tips to identify if a listing is authentic: 👉 Scam alert! How can I make sure a listing is real?

I look forward to hearing your thoughts and I hope this helps.

Warm regards 🌻
