I've had more local people recently, who either have no reviews or maybe 1 review. They say they just needs some time away, or maybe a staycation. Or something. But then they spend the whole time drinking (I'm in northern Alaska). I don't want my Airbnb to turn into the local "drunk house". A few weeks ago a lady / guest got so drunk she couldn't even check out. Now I am skiddish, and I've been a super-host for 10 years and have accepted almost everyone without a thought. This is regrettable.
I've also had guests who are local who say they are moving into an apartment at the end of the month and just need a week or two, but some of them have been problematic. Having trouble making the payments, booking one night at a time. Then getting into shouting matches with each other and I thought I'd have to call 911 for DV because they were hitting each other. I went down and knocked on the door and gave them a warning and they finally calmed down. Luckily, the other guest was out late that night so they weren't disturbed.
Local guests have often just been trouble for me.
