Although I have been hosting for a while, I am getting ready to finally move from my apartment into my first home. I am curious on the best way to handle my existing listing and potential new one.
I know my Superhost status will remain, but if I terminate my current listing (For the apartment) will my reviews still be reflected. I see a lot of hosts who have something along the lines of "This host has X reviews on other properties." however, that seems to be the case when the listings are active. I am afraid of loosing my good reviews if I delete the listing all together.
I considered just updating the photos on the current listing to reflect my new home, but in a sense that doesn't seem fair, as the reviews are based on a different space.
If anyone has some insight I would appreciate it. 😃
@Jennifer1897 As far as I'm aware, unless you delete your Airbnb account entirely (not just a listing) your reviews will all still be visible on your profile. I'm not sure whether delisting the current listing or deleting it is what you should do- I imagine someone else who knows will chime in or you might be able to fid the answer in Airbnb's Help section..
But you'd definitely want to create a new listing for the new place, not just change the photos and some of the description. Your past revews would show that they are for the current place, so if a guest is reading the reviews, what was said about that listing and what will be said about the new one will likely be different and would just confuse people or lead them to expect something totally different.
@Jennifer1897 Make a new listing but leave the old one intact (with a blocked calendar!!!) until you feel it is established (10 reviews???) then go back and deactivate the old one.
@Jennifer1897 Your reviews stay with you, the host, and will appear on your profile even after you deactivate your old listing. As others have advised, don’t attempt to reuse the listing. Not only would that be misleading and confusing, but I don’t think Airbnb allows changing the address of an existing listing.
I'm going through the same experience. The apartment didn't allow housing during COVID but now I've purchased and have moved to my own home and I'm seeing up both an apartment and a single room. I'm hoping all the old reviews stay active!
