Alright, here’s my list of everything that could upset guests. What did I miss?
The property was not as described
Uncomfortable beds/sheets/pillows
Noisy (A/C unit, road noise, refrigerator, neighbors) lead to poor sleeping conditions
Guests run out of stuff – toilet paper / paper towel / etc.
Expected items are not there like tv or internet
Things that don’t work such as an advertised hot tub
Couldn’t access property
Worn out stuff
No instructions about what to do with trash
Insufficient outdoor seating – guests don’t want to carry the sofa outside
Construction noise or inconvenience
Neighbor issues
Poor communications with the host – either before, after, or during – “there was a major problem during my stay and the owner didn’t answer my calls”
Terrible or no WiFi
Vacation rental location deception
Too many rules
Lack of privacy
No refund with no explanation
And my personal favorite - no plunger

haha, and 'you should provide a hairdryer' (esp as there was one in unit she just didn't look! )
add to list "you don't provide clingwrap for leftover food.' odd since the cupboard had many plastic containers all perfect for leftovers! Also strange since I had gone to LOTS of tyrouble for these Guests, finding cheaper rentacar options, sourcing a high chair and cot blankets sheets etc, and they gave me 5 stars! Also odd since plastic clingwrap so environmentally unfriendly!
.
I have a staircase to the first floor. To get to that staircase
You have to open a door. If You do so, the lightswitch for
the first floor gets covered by the door, as this is a corner
situation.
When guest were checking out, I turned on said lightswitch
and then opened the door to the staircase.
Guest says: Oh, there's the lightswitch for the first floor.
So they walked up that staircase in darkness for a whole week.
I have a house that sleeps 10 and I'm renting for 15 years.
4000+ guests could find the switch, they couldn't. I'm not
making this up, it happened today.
my home was once 'hard to find.' The guests used google maps..... but the house was 'hard to find.'
You can't make this stuff up.
''the garden was lively''
I'm not even sure what that means.
@Sandra126 Maybe they meant to write "lovely"? Or lively meaning colorful? Or else they saw a lot of ants, bees and butterflies in it.
@Sarah977, interesting, didn;t think they might have mistyped. I assumed they had perhaps been kept awake by wildlife in my lively garden or seen something disturbing. Can't control nature. I will now think of it as ''lovely''. Thank you.
Right in the city center.
Address is not found on Google Maps.
My listing - private house with yard got a lower rating due to the reasons above.
