New guest profile, conflicting information

Just wondering if anyone else is encountering this. I had a request from Igor, whose profile dates back to 2014, but has had no stays, and therefore no reviews. It says he is from Toronto (where my listing is located) but in his messages he is saying he has stayed in Airbnbs before, and that hopefully I'll confirm his booking so he can book his flight to Toronto.  I've declined the request - but thought to ask if anyone else has encountered this kind of thing, new profiles with information that conflicts with information given from the guest.

@Christy5

If he had stays on Airbnb it should indicate the number of trips on his profile, even if no one reviewed him (a Red flag IMHO).

I don't know specifically about this guest @Christy5 , but I've noticed that the profile information on where guests live is often outdated. The profile can show the guest still lives locally, when they're returning for a visit.

Just wanted to point out that part isn't necessarily unusual - I know it wasn't your only concern with this booking.

@Christy5  What @Shelley159  said about outdated info.  Many peope create their profiles early on  and then get married, move away etc.  As far as staying at other Airbnbs, it's possible he stayed with another group or even his parents and the reservation was in their name. Or worse case scenario, he had to create a new profile.

If something seems questionable or doesn't add up,  it's always a good idea to ask questions. If when asking questions things still don't make sense or seem off then I would decline.  You may have thrown the baby out with the bathwater in this instance 😐
