No information on guest profile

I have just listed with Air B&B and taken my first booking for 3 days over Christmas. However, now I am looking at the guest profile I see that they have been a member since 2017 but there is no information apart from a photo. No reviews. I am wondering if there is something odd about this lack of information.

Hello @Jane1122

As you've already noticed, Airbnb has changed quite a lot in the last few years and there is much to learn as you will see from my comment to Joan.  Cancelling is not an option really as not only will you be fined, your calendar will also be blocked off on Airbnb.  Not to mention that the algorithm will probably have a melt down and will hold this against you in the search results so it might be a question of bitting the bullet on this one especially if you have said that 3 dogs is OK to this guest.

As others have said, don't be afraid to ask questions and you can just explain your concern by saying that as they seem to be new to Airbnb, you want to be sure that your place is a good fit. You need to be sure that it will really be only them coming for insurance purposes for example.  Do you charge extra for bringing additional people to the cottage?  Some people say they are coming alone to avoid the extra fees involved.

All the best
Joëlle

@Jane1122. Jane, welcome. I'd ask them to modify their booking to add three pets, as this may help more to cover you in the event of any damages. Also ask them to confirm again final human headcount is one.

If this is truly a single person spending Christmas alone then yes the dogs are their family, assume this but always check with questions. First get on their side by asking for their names and breed telling them its so you can refer to them afterwards in your review for future hosts who may also be open to hosting pets. Will they be bringing their own dog beds or using yours as 3 is a lot to cater for so maybe ask them to BYO.

I would make sure the dog clean up rules are clearly set out (or draft some quickly now). It also doesnt hurt to have doggie poo bags supplied. Most get the hint 😉

Try to balance lack of profile info with engagement. Ask them what their interests are so you can send them links and update them on local events. We hosts have an advantage in that they are booking a real person, not AI. Many guests have thanked me to help them see how to better use Airbnb for both our sakes!

Dear Elisa

Thank you for that note. I have been working on the issue over the last few days and it now seems to have resolved itself. However, the help from the ABB community has been fantastic and I was definitely going to thank everyone who supported me. Jane
