Please give me your opinion about bedbugs

So I have guests checked in on 10/5, 11/12 first requested to extend until 12/30. After he pay for the extension, he reported bedbugs issues, I offered pest control service but he declined. 11/16 without notify me he requested full refund and he didn’t check out until 11/21. Airbnb did not notify me about the FULL refund on 11/16 and allow this family to stay until 11/21 at my own expenses! I called Airbnb customer service and he said he can only sent it to the expedite team and someone will get back to me. I feel very helpless about Airbnb. I lost the whole revenue for 10/5-11/21. Any one can give me better suggestions?

It cost me $1300 on pest control and they told me if I never have any bedbugs issues it must be from this people. They play this scam very professional and I can’t believe Airbnb is supporting their scam and hurt the hosts!

There are those people out there who have figured out how to run the bedbug scam, and I am sorry that they took advantage of you.  For those hosts who get a call claiming bedbugs, cancel the booking immediately and demand that the guest leave.  If they try to stay, you know it is a scam and they are going to demand a refund or cancel their credit card payment so they get a free vacation.  You can report the guest to the OTA, but you will not get much satisfaction as they will just change their profile and do it again.  No legitimate guest reporting bedbugs would decline pest control; they would be demanding it be done immediately including their suitcases so they don’t carry the bugs home. @Patty71  Because Air has refunded this guest in full, you may only be able to file in small claims court for the days the guest stayed up to the day of the bedbug complaint.
