Potential Scam

Potential Scam

so my boyfriend booked this accommodation last night for his stay 23 Feb to 2 March with his friends however when I go onto the listing those dates are still available for me to book. The listing looks okay but they have had no correspondence from the host. The listing has all 5 star reviews all from recently so this makes me feel like they have been scammed into paying for a property that they won't actually be able to stay in. Can you advise?

Hi @Megan1434

I'm afraid this doesn't make sense and something went wrong.

When a listing is booked, the calendar dates are automatically blocked in real time. If the host canceled the booking, the guest would automatically have been notified and the cancellation would show in the message thread of the booking.

It's possible that the booking never went through (perhaps the booking request was denied). If this was the case, the booking amount would not have gone off the credit card.

Hi @Megan1434

I see that the stay was meant to start yesterday, what happened in the end? Did you manage to contact the host or the Support teams at Airbnb to find out more perhaps?

In addition to Shelley's astute advice, I wanted to let you know that I had to remove the link to the listing as we do not allow our Community members to post identifiable information due to safety and privacy reasons as per our Community Center Guidelines. 🙂

Please let us know if you've got any updates!
